Juice/Smoothies Recipes













I’ve been a HUGE fan of green smoothies, for almost a year now!  It started with a simple recipe, I seen on, merely by chance.  I did a little googling, and low and behold, the green smoothie was like a damn movement.

I couldn’t wait to give it a try.  My first smoothie, consisted of baby spinach, and a banana.  And although it wasn’t, light my mouth on fire, good, it left a lasting impression that made me want to experiment further.

Since that day I have made countless smoothies, with 98% of them being good or even exceptionally good!  My kids enjoy them as well!

Along the way, I decided to pick up a juicer.  A juicer will remove most if not all of the pulp from the vegetables and fruits, leaving you with pure liquid.  Depending on your juicer, the juice you make should be consumed quickly.  The nutrients oxidize as soon as they are introduced to air.  So, if you juice, plan on drinking your juice immediately.

I decide if I’m going to have a juice or smoothie for different reasons.  I go with juice if I have a LOT of produce on hand, and if I need an INSTANT energy boost.  The juice will hit my blood stream way quicker then the smoothie, or any other energy drink I should state as well.

I go with a smoothie, if I’m short on time or produce.  A smoothie is also a good choice if I want to feel like I’m drinking something decadent and indulgent.  Something about consuming a drink that is near frozen state, and resembling a frozen margarita, just does things to me.  Good things! Smoothies will also take additional add ins with ease.  Add ins such as flax or chia seeds, oatmeal, instant coffee, peanut/almond butter, and protein powder.  Truly, the sky is the limit.  Smoothies are easy to store, and will last for up to 3 days, refrigerated.  The oxidation process is much slower.  Clean up is also a breeze!

Simply put, there are MANY, GREAT reasons for consuming green based juices and green based smoothies.  I urge everyone to experiment and get on the green juice/smoothie band wagon.
